ESPO

In a subtle misappropriation of a municipal program run by the city of Los Angeles to combat graffiti, in which concerned citizens are given permission to paint over offending graffiti, artist Steve Powers used his residency in Nike's Blue House to initiate his own plan of buffing out bad graffiti in ways that discreetly spelled out his own tag, ESPO.

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf!

Been doing some rough type sketching today. 'Who's afraid of the big bad wolf' is a name Im going to be using for a possible t-shirt design. I just wanted to experiment with different letterforms and been getting a lot of inspiration from a new book that I bought by Steven Heller and Lita Talarico called 'Typographic Sketch Book'. Will be posting the final design of the finished t-shirt very soon.

Bristol Graffiti

Been taking a lot of photographs in the past few weeks of Bristol based street-art for a personal photographic book. The photographs will show a documentation of how graffiti culture is continually changing and how its become such a diverse city turning bleak streets into colourful walls. The photograph below did make me laugh though.

Mechanical Letterforms

Still cant quite get my eyes around how Riccardo Sabatini created these wonderful letters. MEKKANIKA is a font composed of illustrated machines. Very technical and unique inspired by the Transformers. You can see the entire alphabet on Behance.

ROA

This hugely talented street artist hailing from Belgium has to be one of my favorite. He is renowned for his giant black and white animal street art all over the world. Roa has visited many cities. Hitting London regularly with his huge visual impact and visceral style, he plays with scale and texture painting on derelict  and abandoned buildings that take many hours to paint. Inevitably, most of his art work are usually done with permission, which should help their longevity. This post shows his latest work in Gambia and more can be seen here.

Stefan Sagmeister

Tonight's post brings you one of my favorite graphic designers...Stefan Sagmeister. He is renowned for his elegant album covers, posters and launching various design books. He takes us to a playful journey through different moments of his life that made him happy - and notes how many of these moments have to do with good design.

The talk was filmed at the TED conference in February 2004.

Branded Condoms

Really liking the way how Max Wright photoshops tag lines of famous brands like KFC and Adidas onto condom wrappers. You can see more on his blog here.

Development for Asian Thunder logo

For my second rough sketch in designing the Asian Thunder logo I went for a 3D style giving a solid structure to the letterforms. With added colour and texture, I felt that this best suits the sort of energy Asian Thunder has to offer.

Typographic Video

I really like this simple animated video on The Beatles song Help. The black and white use of words is fun and clever.

Vhils

I love how Alexandre Farto uses an electric drill to create his artwork on walls. As a result the textures and detail are incredible! More of his work on his website here.

Rough Sketch of Asian Thunder Logo

Just though I'd mess about with the lettering of the Asian Thunder logo.
